Low back pain
The most common reason people walk through our door — and one of the most treatable. One therapist, hands on, start to finish.

Back pain can be debilitating. It rarely arrives the same way twice.
Sciatica
Pain that shoots down one leg — the pattern people call sciatica — with numbness or tingling below the knee.
Morning stiffness
A stiff, locked-up low back first thing in the morning that loosens as the day goes on.
Pain after sitting
At a desk, in the car, on a plane — it eases once you’re up and moving.
“It goes out”
A back that goes out every few months, and each episode takes longer to settle.
Playing it safe
You stopped lifting, running, or picking up your kids because you’re not sure what your back can take.
A scary MRI report
Words like bulge or degeneration, and nobody has told you what they actually mean for you.
If one of these is yours, you're in the right place. If your case is different, tell us — we'll say honestly whether we're the right fit.
Find what's driving it. Treat it. Load it so it holds.
An assessment, not a template
We find what sets your back off — sitting, bending, lifting, walking — and test how your spine, hips and hamstrings move under load, including any nerve symptoms down the leg. Imaging is context; the exam is the driver.
Treatment that works
Manual therapy to calm the painful segment and get your back moving again — paired with progressive hinging, carrying and lifting so the change holds under real load.
Education and support
You leave knowing what's driving your back pain, what the words on your MRI actually mean, and what to do next — a home program that comes to you, not a photocopied sheet.
We measure where measuring helps. Force plates, dynamometry and gait analysis mean the decision to progress you — or hold you back — comes from a number rather than an impression.

“Brian came highly recommended by my daughter, who's a PT herself. He helped me understand my sciatica and gave me drills to relieve the symptoms.”
She makes physical therapy fun and helped me get on the right track to completing a difficult hike when I was having back pain!
After many frustrating years of injuries and working with multiple physical therapists, I finally found Kauno — and now I'm able to walk, run and live my life without constant pain.
What each visit will cost you — copay, deductible, out-of-network or self-pay.
A written estimate if you're paying out of pocket — per visit and for the likely course of care.
Whether your HSA, FSA or HRA dollars apply — confirmed before you book.
From the blog
Do I need an MRI or a referral first?
No to both. California is a direct-access state, and the exam — not imaging — drives treatment. If you already have an MRI report, bring it and we’ll tell you what the words actually mean for you.
How many visits does back pain take?
Most plans of care run 6 to 12 visits — weekly at first, spaced out as you improve. You’ll have an estimate for your back at the end of your first visit.
Should I rest it or keep moving?
It depends on what’s driving it — which is exactly what the first visit finds. We examine what reproduces your symptoms, start treating the same visit, and tell you what’s safe to keep doing.
