What we collect, and what we don't do with it.

This page covers kauno.health — the website. Your medical record is covered by a separate document with stronger rules, and it's linked below.

Two different documents

This page is about the website: what gets measured when you browse, what happens when you fill out a form, and how we use email and text.

Your health information — what you tell a therapist, what's in your chart, what we bill — is governed by our Notice of Privacy Practices, under HIPAA and California's Confidentiality of Medical Information Act. That notice, not this page, is the one that controls your medical record.

Reading a page on this site does not create a medical record. Nothing you browse here is added to your chart.

What the website collects

Like most sites, this one measures traffic and runs advertising. Specifically:

  • Analytics. Which pages get visited, from what kind of device, and where visitors came from. We look at this in aggregate to decide what to write and what to fix.
  • Advertising. We run ads, and the ad platforms place cookies that let them measure whether an ad led to a visit.
  • What you type into a form. Your name, email, phone, and whatever you wrote in the message. We use it to answer you.

We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with anyone who isn't helping us run the practice.

Booking, forms and payment

Appointments, new patient paperwork and payment don't run on this website. They run on software from other companies — our practice management system and our scheduling tools — and what you enter there lands in their systems under their terms.

Health information you give us through those tools is protected the same way anything in your chart is: by HIPAA, by California law, and by the agreements we hold with those vendors. If you'd rather not use them, call 415-742-1253 and we'll take it by phone.

Email and text messages

We email and text about appointments — confirmations, reminders, and following up when you've dropped off the schedule. If you've asked for it, we also send occasional news about classes and services.

Reply STOP to any text to stop texts. Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Neither one affects your care, and appointment messages can be turned off too — just tell us.

Cookies and your choices

You can clear or block cookies in your browser, and both Google and Meta let you limit ad personalization in your account settings on their side.

If you're in California

Your medical information carries protections under the Confidentiality of Medical Information Act that go beyond HIPAA — including that we can't share it for marketing without your written permission. We don't.

Questions, or a request

Email connect@kauno.health or call 415-742-1253. If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it corrected or deleted, start there and a person will handle it.

To exercise a right over your medical record specifically — a copy, an amendment, an accounting of disclosures — use the process in the Notice of Privacy Practices, which has its own timelines we're required to meet.

Effective September 2026. If we change how any of this works, we'll change this page and move the date.
still have a question

Ask us before you hand anything over.

If you'd rather book without filling out a form online, call and a person will take it down.
